This series is born from the intimate and transformative experience of navigating breast cancer. As my body changed—becoming fragile, hairless, and vulnerable during chemotherapy—art became both my refuge and my voice. I cast my head at a time when I felt stripped of identity, and through this sculptural form, I began to reclaim my sense of self.
These paintings reflect the shifting relationship between my physical form and my spirit. The photographs of the cast appear as recurring symbols—silent witnesses to pain, survival, and hope. The work captures the delicate interplay between mortality and perseverance, fragility and strength.
A vital part of this project is a video I created by filming myself every month after treatment, documenting how my body gradually became healthier and stronger. This visual journey serves as a powerful symbol of hope, showing the body’s remarkable ability to heal and transform over time.
By sharing these reflections, I aim to create a space for healing and connection, where personal battles resonate universally. This series is a testament to the resilience of the human body and the enduring light of hope that carries us forward.
